Norwegian Aquaculture in America (NACA), a group of Norwegian RAS technology suppliers aiming to make headway in the North American land-based aquaculture market, has appointed Alex Tsappis as its representative in the region.

Tsappis brings more than 20 years of experience in the US aquaculture industry and will represent NACA’s five member companies across both the United States and Canada. The companies said that, in addition to sales, Tsappis will oversee logistics, service, aftersales and, in time, local assembly of equipment.

NACA was established in 2025 by five Norwegian suppliers spanning the land-based aquaculture value chain: Silikal Aquaculture Solutions, Simona Stadpipe, Dynamic FishEye, Mat-Kuling Vannbehandling and Helland Silosystem. The network aims to support the rollout of Norwegian recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology in North America, a market it has identified as a key area for growth.

As part of its expansion, the group has also partnered with Indiana-based Structural Armor, which manufactures modular composite tanks and membranes used in aquaculture systems. The companies are due to exhibit jointly under the NACA banner at the RAStech conference in May, where they will also host a workshop focused on land-based aquaculture.

The appointment marks the latest step in NACA’s strategy to build a stronger local presence in North America, following its launch last year as a collaborative platform for Norwegian aquaculture technology providers targeting the region, supported by Innovation Norway.
