AquaChile has completed its first salmon transport using liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks in Chile, as reported by Portal Portuario, the leading communication outlet for the maritime-port logistics industry in Latin America.

Thanks to a collaboration with Lipigas and Transportes GLA, the salmon producer has launched operations with a new fleet of ten trucks. The first journey departed from Puerto Montt to Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago.

This initiative allows AquaChile to reduce particulate emissions by 90%, decrease CO2 emissions by up to 20%, cut noise pollution by 50%, and prevent spills and product losses.

Lipigas, a company that has promoted this solution for heavy cargo transport since 2021, supplies the LNG and is also developing BioLNG, a carbon-neutral fuel.

Currently, Lipigas' green corridor includes four stations located in Tabolango (Valparaíso Region), Paine (Metropolitan Region), Linares (Maule Region), and Puerto Montt (Los Lagos Region). Portal Portuario confirms that another station will soon be added in Antofagasta.

Empresas AquaChile S.A. released its results for the third quarter and the nine months ended September 30, 2024, showing a significant improvement in profitability compared to the previous year.
