The organizer of the international seaweed industry "Seagriculture" conferences, DLG Benelux, has formalized a new agreement with the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA), aimed at strengthening their collaboration for the annual Seagriculture EU Conference.
The move, formalized at the AlgaEurope 2024 conference in Athens during December, marks an extension to their existing partnership, which has seen them jointly organize the AlgaEurope Conference since 2015, attracting around 425 delegates each year.
The agreement is designed to further boost the Seagriculture EU Conference, a leading seaweed industry event taking place annually over the past 14 years, with this year's edition set to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, from 17-19 June 2025.
The conference rotates locations across Europe, bringing together experts and industry players from various sectors of the seaweed industry, including feed, food, offshore cultivation, and biorefining, with last year's edition taking place in the Faroe Islands.
Likewise, EABA's core mission is to promote cooperation in the algae biomass sector, encouraging collaboration among scientists, industry professionals, and policymakers to advance research, technology, and industrial capabilities, according to EABA president Carlos Unamunzaga.
“As the leading association for algae in Europe, EABA is dedicated to supporting its members in both the macroalgae and microalgae sectors. Signing the agreement with DLG Benelux to foster closer collaboration around the Seagriculture Conference will undoubtedly contribute to this mission and further enhance the association's efforts to advance the algae industry," Unamunzaga said, in a press release announcing the new agreement.
“For many years, we have enjoyed a successful collaboration with EABA. Partnering with EABA for the Seagriculture Conference will create an even stronger platform, enabling us to further develop the conference and connect with an even broader network of industry players. Furthermore, I believe it’s a great example of collaboration which is so much needed in the sector," added Kuno Jacobs, Managing Director of DLG Benelux.
