The last Friday of the year it was announced that SalmonChile's Director of Studies and Projects, Marcela Bravo, had been recognized as the 'Person of the Year 2024' by the awareness platform on aquaculture and salmon farming InfoSALMON.
The award, which highlights leadership and positive impact on salmon farming, was granted after a record vote that in this edition counted more than 4,000 participants who recognized Bravo's contribution to projects such as the 'Salmon Gender Equity Roundtable', the 'Salmon Mentoring Network', and the 'Salmon Summit'.
The 'Salmon Gender Equity Roundtable' is part of the actions that the guild is promoting in pursuit of a cultural change that will allow greater participation and leadership of women in salmon farming, while the 'Salmon Mentoring Network' is an initiative designed to support and strengthen salmon farming entrepreneurs in the southern regions of Chile.
Regarding the 'Salmon Summit', as reported by WeAreAquaculture, it held its first edition in July this year, gathering more than 1,200 people live and 600,000 in streaming including industry leaders, politicians, academics, economists, and representatives of civil society to discuss the challenges and opportunities of salmon farming in Chile.
Marcela Bravo, who was one of the architects of the Summit's success, expressed her gratitude for the recognition and insisted once again on one of the key points discussed at the Summit: the importance of collaboration within the industry.
"It is an honor to receive this recognition from so many people in the industry," she said. "This reflects the joint work we carry out every day to promote sustainability, innovation and shared value. This productive sector has a promising future, and I am convinced that dialogue and collaboration will continue to be key to its development," she emphasized.
Bravo added she wanted to share the award with the SalmonChile team and its partner companies. "Their dedication, professionalism and commitment to the challenges of our industry allow us to move forward with confidence towards the challenges of the future and continue building an increasingly strong and collaborative industry," the Director of Studies and Projects said.
For his part, the president of the Chilean Salmon Industry Association also had a few words of recognition for the 'Person of the Year 2024'. "Marcela has shown exceptional leadership at a key moment for salmon farming," he pointed out.
"This award not only reflects her effort and talent but also the commitment she has to drive sustainable initiatives and strengthen collaboration in the sector. We are very proud to have her on our team," Arturo Clément concluded.
