IFFO, The Marine Ingredients Organisation, announced that, for the second year in a row, its 2026 Members' Meeting will take place in Madrid, Spain. If in 2025 the event, which the organization defined as "flagship gathering of the global marine ingredients value chain," took place in May, this year, it has been moved to April and will be held from the 27th to the 29th.
"Bringing the Members' Meeting back to Madrid reflects the overwhelmingly positive feedback from last year's event and underlines the city's strategic role as a hub for our global community," said Petter Martin Johannessen, IFFO Director General.
"In 2026, we will again gather industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, address shared challenges, and explore the future of marine ingredients with a forward-looking mindset," he added.
As IFFO highlighted in its release announcing the event, the meeting will bring together industry leaders from around the world to discuss the latest developments related to marine ingredients, market trends, sustainability challenges, innovation and global supply dynamics.
Participants at this year's meeting will have access to a three-day program that will include expert presentations by 18 speakers from across the marine ingredients value chain, and perspectives on fishing and sustainability frameworks, as well as the latest market forecasts, regulations, and technological developments.
Moreover, in addition to offering dedicated networking spaces, two parallel events will also be held. The first, organized by The Marine Ingredients Organisation itself, is entitled 'IFFO Member Services', will be held on April 27, and is aimed at new members of the organization who wish to learn more about the services it offers.
The second of these side events, meanwhile, is entitled 'Continuous Improvement in Marine Ingredients: A Workshop on the Evolving Expectations in Aquafeed Certification'. Led by MarinTrust and Global Seafood Alliance (GSA), owner of the BAP Feed Mill Standard, its objective is to discuss evolving expectations in aquafeed certification, focusing specifically on strategies to best address marine ingredient assurances across a diverse landscape of commitments and expectations.
Regarding the presentations, these will be distributed across two market forums held on Tuesday, April 28th and Wednesday, April 29th. The first, entitled 'Supply challenges and opportunities', will dedicate its first part to discussing 'The feed ingredients industry beyond fishmeal and fish oil', covering topics such as the threats to marine fish stocks and sustainable harvesting, innovation trends in feed ingredients, and an update on animal byproducts.
The second part, meanwhile, will revolve around the theme: 'Understanding the world's marine ingredients supply'. Speakers will present an overview of global trends in the fishmeal and fish oil supply; discuss production insights and regulatory developments in European fishmeal and fish oil; cover the supply, scale, and outlook for Oman marine ingredients; and provide updates on the Chilean and Peruvian supply of marine ingredients, as well as on mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH).
The second of the market forums, on the 29th, will be held under the heading 'Demand challenges and opportunities', which will be divided into two parts: 'Exploring feed demand for marine ingredients part I' and 'Exploring feed demand for marine ingredients part II'.
In the first part, speakers will talk about the global salmon market and how to navigate growth amid tariffs, biological challenges and new technologies; about recent developments and future trends in aquaculture feed; a talk on marine ingredients from a feed producer's perspective will also be included; and, finally, an update on the China market.
Next, the second part will consist of a panel debate entitled: 'Feed producers' 2030 sustainability targets in practice'. Participants will include representatives from IFFO, the Faroese company Havsbrun, Skretting, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), and the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington.
