Seafood Expo Global has announced the finalists for its 2026 Seafood Excellence Global Awards, with the winners set to be revealed on 21 April during the opening day of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global in Barcelona.

The expo will run from 21 to 23 April at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue.

The awards, event organisers Diversified said, are designed to recognise "outstanding seafood products showcased at the Expo, offering a snapshot of innovation and emerging trends across the industry."

Two main prizes will be awarded for Best Retail Product and Best HORECA Product, alongside four special awards focused on innovation, convenience, retail packaging and seafood product line. All shortlisted products will be displayed during the three-day event.

Aquaculture firms among this year's finalists, at largest event to date

This year’s shortlist includes eight finalists in the HORECA category, including turbot and sole farmer Stolt Sea Farm (Spain), trout aquaculture firm Kalaneuvos Oy (Finland) - which won the category in 2025 - and oyster mariculture company Huîtres Legris.

In the retail category, 30 finalists are listed, with a particularly strong showing from Viciunai Group (Lithuania), which won the category last year, and accounts for six of this year's entries. Two major salmon aquaculture players also appear in the retail category, with Norway's Leroy Seafood and Chile's Multi X both shortlisted for products.

The event organisers said the finalists represent 17 countries, two more than in last year’s competition.

This year's expo, the 32nd edition of the trade fair, has been confirmed as the largest in the event’s history, with 2,300 exhibiting companies from 86 countries in attendance, and 65 national and regional pavilions. A major new feature of this year's event is the debut of a zone dedicated exclusively to innovation in aquaculture, focusing on technology and services for fish farming.
