AKVA group announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with DOKK Husøy, also a Norwegian company, a specialist in the operation, development, and sale of rafts, barges and quay facilities, for the supply of concrete feed barges to the aquaculture industry.

The world's largest supplier of solutions and services to aquaculture said that, with this partnership, it is strengthening its position as a full-service provider in the barge market by offering customers a wider range of materials and solutions.

The partnership covers the Nordic region and Scotland

Traditionally, AKVA group has supplied steel barges, such as the one it will deliver to Arctic Fish at the end of July 2026. However, as stated in its release announcing the partnership, the company now sees a clear need to expand its offering.

"AKVA group aims to meet the market as a comprehensive supplier of barge solutions. Concrete represents a growing share of the total market, and this partnership better equips us to offer customers what they actually demand – regardless of material choice," said the COO of AKVA group, Erlend Røed Gundersen.

The aquaculture supplier company said the partnership mainly covers the Nordic region and Scotland, and allows it to offer complete barge configurations in both steel and concrete, providing greater flexibility for producers operating under different site conditions and operational requirements.

DOKK Husøy, a solid and experienced supplier

"We are proud to enter into a partnership with AKVA group. They hold a strong position in the market and have a clear ambition to be a total supplier. Together, we can offer robust and proven concrete solutions to a broader range of markets," stated, for his part, Arnt Ove Tangsgjerd, Managing Director of DOKK Husøy.

Regarding its new partner, AKVA group highlighted that DOKK Husøy has produced and delivered more than 40 concrete barges over the past six years, establishing itself as a solid and experienced supplier with documented quality in its deliveries.

It added that, through this partnership, the company, which is based in Husøy, in the municipality of Karmøy, Rogaland, becomes a key partner of the AKVA group within the concrete segment, marking an important step forward and supporting the aquaculture supplier's ambition to offer complete and tailored solutions.
