AKVA group will supply an AC700R feed barge to Arctic Fish, the Icelandic salmon company owned by Mowi. Delivery is scheduled for the end of July 2026, with transportation to Iceland's west coast planned for mid-September of the same year.
The AC700R is a robust feed barge with a capacity of 700 tonnes, a hybrid power system, and solutions specifically designed for operations in exposed conditions. It also includes AKVA connect software, which enables precise control and a complete overview of both feeding and barge functions.
"This barge will provide Arctic Fish with a modern and reliable feeding platform that strengthens their operations on the west coast of Iceland,” said Project Manager Alf Kåre Ulfsnes at AKVA group.
In recent months, Iceland has become an important market for AKVA group, with the company increasing its presence in the country’s aquaculture industry. For example, it also delivered an AC600VR feed barge to Kaldvik, on Iceland’s east coast.
Furthermore, the Group signed a contract in July with Laxey for the supply of another post-smolt module to be used in a re-use grow-out facility for Atlantic salmon located on the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). AKVA said the estimated value of the contract is €8.5 million.
"Salmon production in Iceland has developed rapidly in recent years. AKVA group has delivered a wide range of solutions and technology to the Icelandic market, in close collaboration with skilled customers and partners. We are fully committed to continuing this journey," noted Stian Paulsen, Commercial Director Sea Based at AKVA group.
