AKVA Group continues its collaboration with Iceland's land-based salmon farming firm Laxey, with the announcement it has signed a contract with the Icelandic company for the supply of another post-smolt module.
The module, to be used in a re-use grow-out facility for Atlantic salmon located on the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), Iceland, is part of a project developing Laxey's post-smolt infrastructure. AKVA said the estimated value of the contract is €8.5 million.
The news follows shortly after the announcement that Laxey had secured an additional €28 million for development of its land-based facility, in a funding round which saw Iceland’s three largest pension funds join as shareholders in the salmon farming company.
Laxey previously contracted AKVA to develop its Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facility at the site, and in January 2025 AKVA announced it had also signed a contract valued at approximately €20 million to construct the second module of Laxey's re-use grow-out facility.
In April, Laxey confirmed it had transferred the first batch of salmon from the post-smolt facility to the on-growing tanks, and the company completed its first successful post-smolt delivery in June.
