AquaGen Scotland
AquaGen's Scottish subsidiary has inaugurated its new freshwater recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), which is designed for the incubation of high-quality Atlantic salmon eggs.
AquaGen Scotland is dedicated to the incubation and production of salmon eggs with optimized genetics, applying RAS (recirculating aquaculture systems) to minimize environmental impact while maximizing egg health and viability.
This new facility has been funded by the parent company, which also led the development of the Profunda facility in Norway. Just a month ago, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) granted AquaGen Profunda’s facility in Barstadvik World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) status and EU approval for export.
"By combining advanced technology with sustainable practices, we're not only improving the health and quality of our Atlantic salmon eggs but also reducing our environmental footprint. This facility showcases our commitment to innovation and sustainability in aquaculture," assured the Managing Director, Keith Drynan.
AquaGen is a genetic selection company that develops, produces, and delivers genetic material to the sea farming industry. Through its research and development-driven market approach, it has achieved a leading position as a supplier of Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout eggs.
Since the 1970s, the Norwegian company has been conducting continuous research and development programs in cooperation with commercial operators and research institutions.
