The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) has granted AquaGen Profunda's facility in Barstadvik the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) status and EU approval for export.

This certification confirms that AquaGen Profunda meets the requirements to be classified as an isolated and disease-free compartment, making it the only facility in Norway to achieve full third-party verification of its health status and biosecurity.

It is also worth noting that even outside Norway, there are very few facilities with documented freedom from listed diseases and full biosecurity control throughout the entire production cycle.

The facility, dedicated to full-cycle, land-based production of salmon broodstock and eggs—with a closed population and year-round production of eggs and milt—has an independent water supply.

Regarding this achievement, CEO of AquaGen, Knut Røflo, said: "Norwegian AquaGen eggs now have the potential to become a key resource in salmon farming globally. The certificate confirms both the quality and the biosecurity of AquaGen Profunda, and provides a solid foundation for further international growth and collaboration."

Mattilsynet conducts extensive sampling in collaboration with the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, which serves as one of WOAH's European Collaborating Centres for Epidemiology and Risk Assessment.

To renew this certification annually, AquaGen is committed to continuing its work in documentation, monitoring, and transparency to meet regulatory requirements and protect fish health.
