ShrimpTech JIRCAS
The white shrimp producer ShrimpTech JIRCAS, Inc., based in Tsukuba, Japan, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Japanese company IMT Engineering Co., Ltd. to collaborate on the development of land-based recirculating aquaculture systems.
Thanks to this collaboration, basic and applied research, feasibility studies, and the commercialization of new technologies will be conducted to promote the growth of land-based shrimp aquaculture both in Japan and internationally.
Specifically, ShrimpTech JIRCAS will focus on research and the commercialization of technologies, while IMT Engineering will provide technical support, including site surveys and facility design. Through staff exchanges and the training of researchers, innovation will be fostered.

ShrimpTech JIRCAS, Inc. was founded in February 2022 to deliver shrimp production technology based on cutting-edge science. It became a fully fledged corporate enterprise in July 2023 and subsequently successfully raised funds.
In January, the Japanese company received the Deep Tech Venture of the Year 2025 award in the startup category. This award recognizes business ventures and start-ups that are involved in promoting new technologies based on deep tech.
