Optiras AS has secured its first commercial contract with Baring Farsund AS as the technology provider for a land-based aquaculture facility in Southern Norway.

Therefore, Optiras's technology will ensure stable and high water quality throughout the production cycle while reducing energy consumption by over 50% compared to current solutions.

Baring Farsund informed in 2021 that it had been granted a license for a land-based salmon farm in Lundevågen i Farsund. This facility will be the largest land-based facility for post-smolt and food fish in the southernmost part of the country.

According to Optiras, a total of NOK 300 million will be invested in Farsund, allowing for the delivery of 1,200 tons of post-smolt to Norwegian farmers annually.

The total investment is estimated to be between NOK 4 and 5 billion and will employ around 100 people. When fully developed, the facility will be able to produce 24,000 tons and market-ready salmon.

"The contract with Baring Farsund AS is a significant milestone for Optiras AS and represents recognition of the company's technology in the market," a post on Optiras's LinkedIn profile reads.
