Regal Springs promotes sustainable aquaculture in Indonesian universities

Sustainable fisheries practices and economic development of the Tilapia by-products sector, among the main subjects.

Regal Springs Indonesia has signed several strategic partnerships with the most important Indonesian universities to advance in sustainable aquaculture.

During the whole month of June, the global tilapia farming giant partnered with the Faculty of Agriculture at The University of North Sumatra (USU) and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at IPB University (Institut Pertanian Bogor).

The main topics around these initiatives are human resource development via educational and internship programs, Social License to Operate (SLO) research technique, sustainable fisheries practices, economic development of the Tilapia by-products sector, and climate change impacts on aquaculture.

Global Head of Corporate Affairs Laurent Develle expressed in more detail: "Solidifying partnerships with leading Indonesian universities reflects our commitment to sustainable aquaculture through technological innovation, economic viability, environmental integrity, and a strong social license to operate."

In addition, Group Sustainability Manager Elena Piana noted: "Our collaborations with USU and IPB University are pivotal in supporting Indonesia's leadership in the Blue Food Movement."

In May, Regal Springs launched Natural Additions, a business unit devoted to fish by-products and committed to utilizing 100% of the fish the company produces. Natural Additions can be used in cosmetics, nutrition, pet food, pharmaceuticals, fashion, and other sectors.
