Amar Seafood has confirmed the acquisition of the aquaculture site in Tømmervåg from cod producer Ode AS to strengthen its position in halibut farming and support its growth in the Norwegian market.

In March, Ode AS announced the acquisition of seafood company Lumarine AS, which at the time operated a facility in Tømmervåg dedicated to lumpfish production.

The site, strategically located near Amar Seafood's current operations in Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal, will be developed into a halibut grow-out facility.

"Tømmervåg is a perfect strategic fit for us. It adds both capacity and flexibility, and supports our ambition to increase halibut production in a structured and scalable way," said Chief Operating Officer Land-based at Amar Seafood, Thomas Langhelle.

Amar Seafood confirmed that it aims to meet the growing demand for premium whitefish through a fully integrated production model focused on biological performance and operational efficiency.

In addition, the Norwegian company will establish a local operational team and contribute to economic activity and employment in the region. Operations and first stocking are expected to begin this autumn.

"To succeed at scale, we need the right locations combined with the right expertise. Tømmervåg gives us a strong platform for continued growth," Langhelle added.
