Builders Vision has made a minority investment at the General Partner (GP) level in Hatch Blue. Through this transaction, the investment and philanthropy platform founded by Lukas Walton acquires a non-controlling equity stake in the management company itself, rather than in the underlying portfolio assets or companies.

"When a partner like Builders Vision - with its long-term perspective and deep roots in the global food system - doubles down at the GP level, it sends a powerful signal," assured Georg Baunach, CEO of Hatch Blue.

As early as 2017, Builders Vision partnered with Hatch Blue across its investment, advisory, and venture-building activities, including as a Limited Partner (LP) in its Blue Revolution Fund.

With this new investment, Builders Vision reinforces its confidence in and deepens its strategic alignment with the global aquaculture investment platform, a sector that is clearly emerging as a major attractor of capital.

"This investment reinforces that aquaculture is no longer an emerging niche, but a critical growth sector. With Builders Vision as a strategic partner, we can accelerate our ambition to build the world's leading specialist investment platform dedicated to aquaculture," Baunach noted.

According to Hatch Blue, the sector is demonstrating its development and evolution through acquisitions in areas such as feed and genetics, as well as increased investment in digital and AI-enabled farming systems.

"The Hatch Blue team has consistently demonstrated an ability to do the hard, transformative work that the ocean sector needs, particularly in restorative aquaculture. We are thrilled to expand our commitment through this GP stake and look forward to serving as a strategic advisor to the firm as they build the connective tissue necessary for a truly sustainable and successful aquaculture industry," concluded Director, Investments at Builders Vision, James Lindsay.

In July 2025, Hatch Blue, through its global accelerator for early-stage startups CREST, invested in seven new companies striving for a sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and high-performing fish production.
