The aquaculture investment fund Hatch Blue, through its global accelerator for early-stage startups CREST, has invested in seven new companies striving for a sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and high-performing fish production.

The kickoff of the 2025 program, focused on innovation, took place in Hawai’i, and the research center dedicated to advancing marine science and ocean-related technologies, Hawai’i’s Ocean Science and Technology, was the host.

In more detail, the CREST program will train these companies in areas such as networking, Intellectual Property, Market Assessment, competitive landscape, Life Cycle Assessment, and marketing and branding.

"We are excited to welcome these seven companies to the Hatch Blue Early Stage portfolio. Our investment comes from Hatch Accelerator Fund II, which has an accelerator-led investment strategy. These seven companies have been carefully selected for team, market opportunity, innovation, and impact on the sector," detailed Caitriona Kelleher, Early Stage Investments Director.

The invited companies are developing technologies and innovations that use 3D printing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), electrostatic fibers, aquafeeds, and hemp-based bio concrete materials to more quickly detect sea lice larvae, achieve earlier stocking, provide low-consumption alternatives, or help reduce energy usage.

Also, Hatch Blue, supported by Buenos Aires biotech venture capital fund GRIDX, Australian startup accelerator Ocean Impact Organisation, and other strategic investors, invested in March in Aquit, an aquaculture biotech startup based in Chile.
