Aquit, an aquaculture biotech startup based in Chile, has announced it has raised USD 832,000 in pre-seed funding.
The funding round was led by aquaculture investment fund Hatch Blue, and supported by Buenos Aires biotech venture capital fund GRIDX, Australian startup accelerator Ocean Impact Organisation, and other strategic investors, Aquit said.
The company announced the successful closure of the funding round in a LinkedIn update.
"This milestone allows us to keep moving forward in our vision to transform aquaculture through biotechnology solutions that reduce antibiotic use," Aquit stated.
"Now, with more momentum than ever, we are focused on Aquit’s next milestones. A huge thank you to those who trust our team and join us on this journey," the company added.
Aquit is developing preventive treatments for infections in fish that replace antibiotics, improve survival rates and boost natural immunity. According to its website, it is currently focused on the production scale-up and development of a bioinformatic and AI platform for new products.
