The Organic Sea Harvest fleet will enjoy a new semi-hybrid fish farm service vessel thanks to a partnership deal with Inverlussa Marine Services. It will take up duties at the Organic Sea Harvest sea sites off the coast of the Trotternish peninsula on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The Arthur Douglas is 21-metre long and has been built by Nauplius Workboats in the Netherlands. It uses a battery pack to harvest energy during operational hours, which can then be used to power harbor settings, allowing the interruption of generators.

It will be the first semi-hybrid vessel in the Organic Sea Harvest fleet that reduces noise and fuel consumption during overnights or days when the vessel is stormed off.

Regarding this partnership, Robaidh Halliday, Organic Sea Harvest Sites Manager, said: "Arthur Douglas has been specifically designed to meet our multipurpose needs. With her large deck space, twin cranes, and winch, she will be able to handle anything we ask of her."

On the other hand, Ben Wilson, Inverlussa Marine Services Managing Director said: "We are pleased to continue our collaboration with OSH and appreciate the trust they place in us. Our strategy remains focused on investing in the most up-to-date vessels and partnering with the industry's finest crew, with Arthur Douglas being a prime example.

A couple of years ago, Scottish Sea Farms also obtained an Inverlussa semi-hybrid powered workboat to service larger salmon pens and nets at its marine farms around Scotland's west coast.
