BAADER and Grieg Seafood sign a $14M deal in Barcelona

BAADER will supply a complete processing line, from raw material reception to finished product packaging.

BAADER and Grieg Seafood have signed an agreement at the Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona to build a salmon processing plant in Gardermoen near Oslo. It is expected that the facility will be ready by 2025 and will receive a NOK 130 million ($14 million) investment.

"The plant is destined to set a new standard for the salmon industry," Modulf Barstad of BAADER Norway expressed. "Being selected to supply equipment for such a benchmark project fills us with pride. The plant is destined to set a new standard for the salmon industry."

Also, Barstad highlighted how constructive and collaborative this partnership has been during the process and the care that Grieg Seafood has put into the project execution.

Other partnerships have been signed during the Expo like the one between Optimar AS and APROMAR. The agreement was about validating an electric stunning system for giltheads, seabass, and seabream raised in Spanish Mediterranean farms.

The most advanced equipment

Therefore, BAADER will supply a complete processing line, from raw material reception to finished product packaging. Thanks to the BAADER 581 Pro and BAADER 1860 fillets will suffer an individual and meticulous classification and will be transformed into a flawless product.

Additionally, the factory will have an automatic freezer for by-products and finished goods so all parts of the fish can be utilized. Finally, BAADER will deliver mechanical components and software solutions.

Regarding, the technical and material contribution, the Business Development Director at Grieg Seafood, Piotr C. Wingaard said: "We have worked closely with BAADER for a long time and have a very good knowledge of their equipment and technology. We recognized early on that it has the best and most advanced equipment on the market."

Moreover, Wingaard underlined how they also contribute to the design phase, so they can create a factory "with the best possible flow, and which utilizes the area to the fullest. We knew they would deliver state of the art in the design area and planning as well with the expertise they have in Norway."

Finally, the Grieg director described BAADER's equipment as "unparalleled reliability, with minimal downtime, less maintenance, and longevity that sets them apart."
