"I'm joining Aquaticode because this team is creating real biological and commercial impact," Trond Williksen.
AI-powered solutions provider Aquaticode has announced the appointment of Trond Williksen as its new Strategic Advisor. Williksen brings over two decades of experience across farming, technology, genetics, and fish health.
Previously, he served as CEO of AKVA group and SalMar, and more recently of Benchmark Holdings, where he led the company’s proposed delisting from the public markets. This also includes the appointment of a new CEO and CFO, as well as changes to the board of directors.
"Trond has operated at every level — from farming and technology to genetics and fish health — and that breadth is rare. His experience will help us turn innovation into consistent improvements on the farm and bring phenotype intelligence into standard practice across the industry," assured Aquaticode CEO Stian Rognlid.
Aquaticode will continue to deliver innovative projects like its SORTpro system, introduced 18 months ago. The system helps improve profitability by making operations more efficient and boosting fish health, while also reducing mortality and early sexual maturation. The Norwegian company has already signed agreements with two of Chile's largest salmon producers, Australis and AquaChile.
Regarding his appointment, Williksen said: "I'm joining Aquaticode because this team is creating real biological and commercial impact. With better selection, Norway's target of reducing sea mortality from around 16 % toward 5 % isn't just theoretical — it's achievable. That’s an impact worth pursuing, and Aquaticode is in a strong position to make it happen."
Finally, Einar Wathne, advisor and former CEO of Cargill's aquaculture division, added: "I have watched Aquaticode's technology evolve from a proof of concept to real-scale deployment, and Trond’s addition strengthens our ability to bring phenotype intelligence into everyday use on the farm."
