The trout production company of Hendrix Genetics, Troutlodge, has hired Joe McElwee as its new General Manager. McElwee has nearly 40 years of experience in the aquaculture industry.
During this time, he has learned about numerous species including trout, salmon, halibut, turbot, cod, Arctic char, and branzino (European seabass).
He has also worked in various countries and with different farming systems such as Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), flow-through systems, and offshore marine cages.
Through new technologies implementation and alternative solutions, the new General Manager has been involved in the production and management of farm procedures, from the initial process to the final product release.
"Joe brings extensive experience in the aquaculture industry, along with a fresh perspective that we are confident will contribute significantly to our ongoing success," a statement reads.
Troutlodge is the world's leading producer of eyed trout eggs. Based in Washington, the company produces over 500 million trout eggs each year and ships them to over 60 countries.
In operation since 1945, it specializes in rainbow trout eggs and offers all-female and triploid eggs. In addition, it has grown to become the Pacific Northwest's leading supplier of live rainbow trout for public and private stocking programs.
