Yesterday, on the same day that Kaldvík announced that its CFO, Róbert Róbertsson, had given notice of his desire to resign from his position at the company to pursue other opportunities, fellow Icelandic salmon producer Arnarlax announced his hiring.
Róbertsson, who holds two master's degrees, one in corporate finance and one in accounting and auditing, has been working as Kaldvík CFO for the past five years, and previously worked for ten years at Ernst and Young in transaction advisory services and audit.
In the announcement of his appointment, Arnarlax—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Icelandic Salmon—highlighted his solid experience in the industry, along with his considerable expertise in corporate finance and financial management.
"With 21 thousand tonnes targeted for 2026 and exciting years ahead for the industry in Iceland, we are confident that Róbert will be a strong addition to our current team and that his experience and leadership qualities will strengthen our ability to deliver on our plan," said Arnarlax CEO Björn Hembre.
Regarding the date of Róbert Róbertsson's incorporation into his new company, Icelandic Salmon's subsidiary said it will be effective before June 1, 2026. Meanwhile, Kaldvík's stock exchange announcement said he will remain available to the company until February 28, 2026.
In the same statement, Kaldvík—formerly Ice Fish Farm, renamed last year—also thanked Róbertsson for his dedication and hard work over the years and announced that its Board of Directors will begin the process of hiring a new CFO.
When he finally joins Arnarlax, Róbert Róbertsson will take over from Edvin Aspli, who currently holds the role of interim CFO, and will return to his previous position as Chief Strategy Officer when the new CFO takes office.
Aspli, who had joined the company just a few months earlier, in January of this year, took on the role of interim CFO, pending the appointment of a permanent replacement, after Arnarlax announced an "organizational reorganization" at the end of May, following an agreement with its then CFO and CCO to leave their positions.
While Edvin Aspli filled the position vacated by former CFO Jónas Heiðar Birgisson on an interim basis, the other vacant position, that of Chief Operations Officer of Biology, vacated by Rolf Ørjan Nordli, was filled permanently by Johnny Indergård, who had previously served as Freshwater Manager at Arnarlax for four years.
