After a fifteen-year trajectory in Mowi, Ole-Eirik Lerøy has decided to step down as Chairman of the Board of the salmon giant. Since 2009/2010, Mowi has achieved exponential growth by establishing a presence in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Canada, and Chile.

Regarding his decision, Lerøy manifested it was an honor to work during those years when the company became the world’s largest supplier of farm-raised salmon.

"The company is stronger than ever, the outlook sound, and the timing right, to pass the relay baton. I look forward to seeing it grow and develop in the future," he expressed.

On the other hand, the representative of Mowi's largest shareholder John Fredriksen stated: "Ole-Eirik is a true industry veteran and has been instrumental in developing the strong Mowi organization. We highly appreciate his contributions over the past 15 years, which will serve as a strong platform for the future value creation."

Committee proposal

For the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), the nomination committee will propose Ørjan Svanevik as his replacement. The company will convene an EGM shortly, as confirmed through a statement.

Now, Svanevik is a board member of, among others, Axactor, Western Bulk, and Paratus Energy and holds the position of investment director of Seatankers.

Before, he served as CEO of Arendals Fossekompani, Head of M&A at Aker, and Chief Operating Officer of Kværner. Finally, he occupied board positions in listed companies including Mowi, Volue, Seadrill, and Archer.

Mowi released its trading update for the third quarter of 2024 just a few days ago, reporting what it describes as an "all-time high" harvest volume of 161,000 gutted weight tonnes (GWT).
