Coinciding with the beginning of June, Proximar Seafood announced the expansion of its workforce with the appointment of two new senior profiles for its business in Japan to fill each position of Manager of the Human Resources (HR) and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) departments.

Proximar's new HR Manager in Japan is Junipei Kasai who, according to the company's note to the stock exchange, holds the certifications of Health and Safety Officer Class 1 and Internal Auditor ISO 9001:2015. He brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources and labor management.

The position of HSE Manager, for its part, has been filled by Hiroyuki Suzuki, who, the note issued by the land-based salmon producer said, brings extensive experience in HSE management and a strong commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Although they are separate departments - HR deals with people management while HSE deals with safety and environment -, the collaboration between the two of them is essential to achieve a safe and productive workplace, so their recruitment is an important step for the company.

This was emphasized by Proximar's CEO, Joachim Nielsen. "I'm very satisfied that we now have successfully hired managers for the important staff functions HR and HSE," he said.  "I am confident that Mr. Kasai and Mr. Suzuki will both play important roles in our organization, and I'm happy that they have chosen Proximar as their employer."

This reinforcement of Proximar Seafood's staff for its Japanese headquarters follows the appointment in January of Michinori Hoshijima as its new Chief Commercial Officer. The new CCO of Japan's first large-scale salmon farm came from being the former Sales and Marketing Director of Mowi Japan Ltd. Previously, in December 2024, the company appointed Yoshihito Ito, formerly General Manager of Nutreco Japan, as its new Managing Director.

In May, after a successful start to its first full year of commercial operations, an incident caused by an interruption in circulation pumps resulted in approximately 170,000 dead fish at its Japanese facility near Mount Fuji. Proximar attributed the incident to "human error" and a "breach of procedures."

In another stock exchange release on June 23, the land-based salmon producer reported that all modules in the grow-out building were back in operation, and full capacity had been restored after repair work on the biofilters. It also said the company planned to move fish to the last module this current week, which would mean that Proximar can finally resume the necessary operations in all four modules of the grow-out facility.
