Proximar strengthens its team in Japan

Proximar Seafood has announced the appointment of Michinori Hoshijima as its new Chief Commercial Officer for its Japanese headquarters. For 23 years, Hoshijima has been the Sales and Marketing Director at Mowi Japan Ltd.

Regarding this hiring, Proximar CEO Joachim Nielsen said: "Mr. Hoshijima is one of the most experienced persons in the Atlantic salmon market in Japan. He will bring in-depth knowledge from sales and marketing, further strengthening the focus in this important area as we are now ramping up our harvesting in 2025."

Through strategic hires, the Norwegian land-based salmon producer has been focusing on the Japanese market in recent months. In December 2024, it appointed Yoshihito Ito as the new Managing Director. Since 2010, he was the General Manager of Skretting Japan, and since 2021, the General Manager of Nutreco Japan.

Proximar experienced two biofilter incidents in the fourth quarter of 2024 that forced it to lower its harvest volume forecast however, the company managed to solve Q4 challenges without mortality.
