Sjømatbedriftene announced that Johann Martin Krüger has joined the team. The new industrial policy and communication advisor started in his new position on August 1, 2024. With this appointment, the association of Norwegian Seafood Companies seeks to strengthen its team to ensure increased industry-political influence.

"The competition for attention is getting tougher and tougher. Moreover, we see that the major battles in recent years, and in the years to come, will be about securing industry-political conditions for the seafood industry that contribute to increased profitability and competitiveness. The 2025 parliamentary election will perhaps be the most important ever for our industry," said Robert H. Eriksson, CEO of Sjømatbedriftene, commenting on the appointment.

"With this in mind, Johann will be a perfect addition to give Sjømatbedriftene increased strength and capacity to succeed even more in industry policy, as well as to make the organization an even stronger link between our members and the authorities," he added.

Johann Martin Krüger grew up in the industry and has a deep knowledge and understanding of the seafood sector. Despite his young age, he has gained extensive political experience through his roles in Unge Høyre (Norwegian Young Conservatives) and Nordland Høyre (Norwegian Conservative Party). He is currently a deputy representative in the Storting (Norwegian Parliament).

Before joining the association of Norwegian Seafood Companies, its new industrial policy and communication advisor held a position as a consultant at Nordaførr Kompetanse AS, where he started in 2022, after completing his LLM at the University of Tromsø. There, his interest in fisheries management law developed rapidly, and he wrote his master's thesis on the use of technology in fisheries management.

In addition, during his time at Nordaførr Kompetanse, Krüger was able to develop expertise in aquaculture legislation, where he assisted clients in developing the new regulatory regime for offshore aquaculture together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries. For him, his new position is his dream job.

"Here, I have the opportunity to contribute to shaping Norway's most important future industry in close collaboration with industry players, skilled elected officials, and knowledgeable colleagues at Sjømatbedriftene. I get to work on everything that energizes me in my daily life," said Johann Martin Krüger.

"I have always had a genuine and passionate commitment to the coast and the business community along it. One of the things that gives me the most energy is meeting, talking to, and assisting business operators who are proud of what they do and want to develop their company and their local community," he continued.

In closing, CEO Sjømatbedriftene said that the association's new industrial policy and communication advisor impressed him during the selection process. "He is knowledgeable, has great work capacity, and, above all, appears ambitious, both for himself and for the seafood industry," Robert H. Eriksson stated. "He simply has an attitude that fits us like a glove. I am convinced that he will be a great asset to Sjømatbedriftene and our members."
