The Ministry of Production in Peru (Produce) has confirmed that $106.67 million were granted in 2024 to benefit 5,000 micro and small businesses, aiming to promote their development and fishing and aquaculture in the nation.

As proof that this goal will continue next year, González, along with his technical team, including Deputy Minister of MYPE and Industry César Quispe and Deputy Minister of Fishing and Aquaculture Jesús Barrientos, have agreed to set up working groups in the first quarter of 2025.

These working groups will focus on strategies formulations to promote economic growth and sustainability and strengthen the region's production chains.

With a special focus on aquaculture

The Minister of Production and the Regional Director of Production in Piura, Segundo Alzamora, have agreed to promote an inter-institutional agreement with the National Program A Comer Pescado (Let's Eat Fish) to boost the consumption of fishery products and strengthen food security.

Additionally, they will encourage the submission and design of proposals to improve the competitiveness of artisanal fishing vessels in the region.

Regarding the Amazonas region, the regional governor, Gilmer Horna, and the technical team from the Ministry of Production are working on creating a regional aquaculture plan, with a focus on developing tilapia businesses.

Finally, workshops will be coordinated to integrate sector services to enhance aquaculture and encourage the participation of micro and small businesses (MYPEs) in national programs such as Compras a MYPErú and the MYPE Global strategy.
