Icelandic salmon fully owned subsidiary, Arnarlax, has purchased the remaining 50% of shares in Eldisstöðin Ísþór smolt facility in Þorlákshöfn.

Now, the Icelandic Competition Authorities (ICA) need to approve this. Arnarlax will be the sole owner of Eldisstöðin Ísþór hf, if ICA completes the transaction.

The company has confirmed this is "another important step" in the strategy of increased smolt weight. Allowing increased MAB license utilization while reducing production time in the sea and thereby biological risk.

Last week, Arnarlax and Vesturbyggd municipality informed also about the construction of high-tech processing house for farmed fish in Vatnseyri, Patreksfjordur.

About Arnarlax

Arnarlax has its headquarters and harvesting plant in Bíldudalur in Iceland's Westfjords region, close to the sea farms located in the surrounding fjords. In addition, the company has three smolt facilities – one in the Westfjords and two just south of Reykjavik, as well as a sales office in Reykjavik.

Arnarlax´s vision is sustainability, it´s in our nature and with this in mind the company continuously works with neighboring farmers, local governments, and regulators on improving operations and reducing environmental footprint.

It is the first farming company in Iceland to use lumpfish to reduce lice levels and has been working with government agencies to minimize the risk of organic load affecting the seabed underneath.
