SalmonChile announced yesterday the addition of Invermar as a member. The trade association welcomed the long-established Chilean salmon producer and exporter, noting that its membership strengthens the sector's unity and provides solid leadership in sustainability and technological innovation.

With the addition of Invermar, the Chilean salmon industry association now includes more than 50 companies, including producers and suppliers in the salmon farming value chain.

In the announcement, SalmonChile highlighted the importance of welcoming a company dedicated to the production and export of high-quality, value-added salmon species, aimed at satisfying the demands of "the most demanding and sophisticated markets in the world."

"We are extremely happy and proud that a company with the track record and history of Invermar has decided to join SalmonChile," stated the President of SalmonChile, Patricio Melero, commenting on the incorporation.

"The fact that we share fundamental values regarding our daily work and that we seek to join forces motivates us to continue working towards an increasingly responsible, sustainable and forward-thinking salmon farming industry," added Melero.

The newly appointed President of SalmonChile thus continued the line of his recent statements of support for the reconstruction bill proposed by the country's new government, when he emphasized the three fundamental pillars of the sector: "unity among all stakeholders, effective collaboration, and the deep conviction that our growth must always be sustainable, safeguarding environmental, health, economic, and social aspects."

Accelerating the path towards precision aquaculture

Producer and exporter of Atlantic and Pacific salmon, Invermar is a 100% Chilean company with 36 years of experience positioning its production in international markets. As a pillar of its strategy, it has defined a path towards digital transformation and cutting edge to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence.

To make this technological route viable, its infrastructure integrates water recirculation systems (RAS) in its two eco-fish farms, an automated remote feeding room, and artificial intelligence aimed at the constant monitoring of animal welfare, both in the freshwater phase—signed an agreement with ReelData in December—and in the fattening phase at sea.

Furthermore, under a circular economy model, the firm runs a program through which it recycles 94% of the industrial waste generated by the company and transforms 100% of the sludge from its fish farms into organic compost.

With a network consisting of 38 farming sites and 2 processing plants—its entire operation is backed by 8 prestigious international certifications—the new member of SalmonChile currently registers sales in 29 countries and 4 continents.

Guided by the purpose of providing superior-quality food while respecting people and the environment, Invermar assessed its membership in the trade association as a strategic opportunity to continue fulfilling that corporate purpose.

"Being part of SalmonChile is a milestone that decisively accelerates the path towards precision aquaculture we are developing," said Cristian Fernández, General Manager of Invermar.

"On this journey, we firmly believe that innovation is only valuable when it goes hand in hand with respect for people and the environment. This industry alliance will allow us to enhance our collaborative capabilities and knowledge to continue delivering high-quality food to the world consciously and responsibly," he concluded.
