Dongwon F&B has signed a memorandum of understanding with Jeju Technopark Yongam Seawater Center for technology development for smart land-based seaweed farming.

Dongwon F&B is a spinoff of Dongwon Industries' food division. It was founded in November 2000 as a company specializing in food products.

Therefore, the South Korean company will use Island lava seawater to develop land-based seaweed cultivation technology and secure high-quality raw materials.

The lava seawater from Jeju Island is "salt groundwater" rich in minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and vanadium. Its temperature remains stable at around 16℃ year-round.

"The two companies plan to develop processed foods using development technologies in the mid to long term and also introduce collaborative products utilizing the brand of the Yongam Seawater Center," a Dongwon F&B official detailed.
