AQUAEXPO was held this week, from July 8 to 11, at the Guayaquil Convention Center in Ecuador. The event, organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), is the most important shrimp farming technical-commercial event in South America with a 20-year history.
According to the organizers, researchers and professionals from the aquaculture industry worldwide have participated, presenting their latest research and technological advancements.
Finally, the conference cycle has featured top-level speakers, both national and international, who have discussed the challenges facing the sector.
The fair aims to promote improvement in sustainable production practices of Ecuadorian shrimp to enhance its global competitiveness and is consists in a trade fair and a scientific-technical congress.
The exhibiting companies were all those related to the industry such as producers, exporters, feed companies, aerator manufacturers, feeder manufacturers, machinery companies, banks, among others.
The 2024 edition has brought together more than 15 national and international speakers who have addressed crucial topics for the industry, such as cost reduction, data management for decision-making, animal health, nutrition, production, management, technology, market, environment, and risk prevention.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the Machala room and was attended by provincial and government authorities at the head table.
AQUAEXPO consists of a trade fair and a scientific-technical congress. At the trade fair, hundreds of Ecuadorian and foreign companies participate, showcasing the highlights of their product and service portfolios.
The congress addresses topics of interest and importance to the aquaculture sector such as disease prevention and management, nutrition and feeding practices, technological efficiency and innovations, crop diversification, genetic improvement, market trends, and more. Researchers and professionals from the aquaculture industry worldwide participate, presenting their latest research and technological advancements.
The success of AQUAEXPO is evidenced by the sustainable and integrative growth of the event, both in the number of participants at the trade fair and attendees at the congresses. Approximately 300 companies participate in its 4 fairs nationwide, with an attendance of over 15,000 visits in total.
In March, the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) and CNA presented the 'Scale-Up Programme for Shrimp Hatcheries' at the AQUAEXPO Santa Elena. This project aims to promote the sustainable management of shrimp larvae production.
