Skretting and Entobel, a biotechnology company based in Singapore, have formed a partnership to introduce insect protein meal (H-Meal) into the commercial production of shrimp feed in Vietnam.

Both companies aim to offer shrimp producers a low–carbon footprint and responsibly produced option, while reducing dependence on marine ingredients and increasing flexibility in feed formulation.

Moreover, this is the first commercial shrimp feed containing insect meal in Vietnam and one of the first large-scale models of applying insect meal in shrimp feed in Asia.

"Partnering with Entobel helps us provide high-performance nutrition to our customers in a more environmentally friendly way," assured Mr. Duco Onnes, General Director of Nutreco Vietnam.

After several trials, Skretting confirmed that insect meal provides consistent growth rates, feed conversion efficiency, and certain functional benefits thanks to natural components such as chitin and lauric acid.

Also, Alexandre de Caters, Co-founder of Entobel, stated: "We are proud to partner with Skretting to demonstrate that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand. This collaboration shows how circular innovation can reduce pressure on the oceans and strengthen the food value chain."

In October, Skretting introduced the new generation of its shrimp feeds, Optiline and Lorica, designed to achieve consistent growth and survival while supporting farm productivity. These will first be available in Ecuador at the end of 2025.
