Shortly before the end of 2024, the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) announced the appointment of Kathrine Tveiterås as Director of Business Support, Strategy and Organization. Tveiterås, who comes from the position of Pro-Rector of Education at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, will assume her new position on April 1, 2025.
Before becoming Pro-Rector for Education at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway, Kathrine Tveiterås served as Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences, Fisheries, and Economics (BFE) and Head of the Norwegian College of Fishery Science at UiT.
Tveiterås, who holds a master's degree in Marine Business Management and a PhD in Organization and Management, has, in addition to a strong background, extensive board experience and chaired the government-appointed 'Processing Committee', which presented its report on seafood processing in 2022.
Responsible for central support, operational, and development functions at the Seafood Council, she will be the first person to assume this newly created position on the NSC's management team as part of a reorganization and reduction from seven to six directors.
"In a very strong field, Kathrine was by far the strongest candidate," said Christian Chramer, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council, commenting on her appointment. "With this hire, we have secured a leader with solid education, extensive knowledge of the seafood industry, and work experience from large organizations where she has held significant leadership roles," he continued.
"With Kathrine on the team, we will continue to develop the Seafood Council into an effective organization that works closely with the Norwegian seafood industry. We will also strengthen our organization, which spans Norway and fifteen countries, enabling us to continue our work to increase the value of Norwegian seafood both domestically and internationally," Chramer concluded.
For her part, the incoming Director of Business Support, Strategy, and Organization was proud and grateful for the trust placed in her by the NSC, the marketing body working with the Norwegian seafood industry to increase the value of Norwegian seafood products in global markets.
"Seafood is one of our most important export industries, with great significance for people, communities, and value creation. Contributing to the further development of the Norwegian Seafood Council is therefore a great privilege. Most of all, I look forward to getting to know new colleagues and partners," she said.
Kathrine Tveiterås' was the latest appointment announced by the NSC in 2024, when it also appointed Børge Lotre as the new Director of Market Insights and Market Access after having been acting in the position for one year. In addition, during the year just ended, the Norwegian Seafood Council appointed new envoys to Italy, France, and Africa.
