Leadership transition

In September 2024, Smir co-founder and former Head of Business Development Frank Øren was promoted to Group Chief Executive, a newly-created position within the Norwegian aquatech group.

Øren founded Smir together with co-founder Odd Einar Grøntvedt in 2015. He had previously worked in several senior roles within the fish farming industry in Norway, including at Mowi and Midt-Norsk Havbruk, before co-founding the aquaculture technology company.

Just a few days later, the Norwegian group announced the acquisition of Ambiente Aqua, adding this way lighting technology company to its portfolio, complementing its product and service offerings.
