Aquaculture technology specialist Smir has a new Group Chief Executive, the company has announced.
Smir co-founder and former Head of Business Development Frank Øren has been promoted to the top job, a newly-created position within the Norwegian aquatech group, a specialist in sea lice treatment, waterborne feeding and cage systems.
“The board is very pleased that Frank has accepted the newly established position as Group CEO," said Smir Group's Chairman, Torbjørn Gjelsvik, in a Norwegian language LinkedIn post announcing the change.
“Smir Group is experiencing great interest and demand across all our areas, and it is therefore important to ensure that the group's collective resources are used in the best possible way. We are confident that Frank will take good care of our employees and customers,” Gjelsvik added.
Øren founded Smir together with co-founder Odd Einar Grøntvedt in 2015. He had previously worked in several senior roles within the fish farming industry in Norway, including at Mowi and Midt-Norsk Havbruk, before co-founding the aquaculture technology company.
“I thank the board for their trust, and I am really looking forward to working with all employees, combined with overarching strategies," Øren said of his new role.
