Berta Contreras Mutis has assumed the role of General Manager of Benchmark Genetics Chile, replacing Pablo Mazo, who has transitioned to the position of Performance and Documentation Manager at Benchmark Genetics in Norway.
Contreras brings extensive experience in the industry, complemented by her educational background. Berta holds a degree in Marine Chemistry from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and an MBA from the University of Desarrollo. Her previous roles include Technical Manager and Corporate Affairs Manager at Marine Harvest Chile (now Mowi Chile), Managing Partner at Conecta Spa, and, most recently, Technical Manager and Research and Development Manager at Cermaq Chile. Her resume boasts a history of holding prominent positions in nationally recognized companies, demonstrating her strong leadership and responsibility.
Geir Olav Melingen, Chairman of the Board of Benchmark Genetics Chile, expressed the company's pride in welcoming Berta to the Chilean team. "We firmly believe that Berta is the right person to lead our continued growth in this market, where an increasing number of salmon farmers are showing interest in our Atlantic salmon eggs."
Furthermore, Melingen wished Berta and the team the best in this new phase, emphasizing that it would mark a significant turning point. "Her extensive experience and deep knowledge of the salmon farming sector will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing expansion of our operations in the country, always focusing on performance, biosecurity, and the delivery of high-quality services."

"We extend our best wishes to Pablo, who has moved to Bergen, Norway, as he embarks on his new role within the global production team. From this vantage point, he will provide comprehensive support and continue to assist our operations in Chile when needed," explained Melingen.
