Ocean Fish Group (OFG) announced yesterday that Chapman's of Sevenoaks, one of the leading suppliers of premium seafood in the south of the UK, has officially joined it in a strategic joint venture to further enhance the delivery of high-quality, responsibly sourced fish with scale and precision.
"Ultimately, this partnership strengthens the British seafood supply chain," OFG said in a statement, after claiming this is "a significant development for the UK seafood industry."
Of Champman's, Ocean Fish said it is a trusted hospitality supplier, serving top restaurants, hotels, and events like Formula 1 or the Chelsea Flower Show, and its expertise in supplying fresh British fish to London complements OFG's end-to-end model, from vessels to global sourcing.
"Together, we are creating one of the most capable and customer-focused British seafood suppliers in the country," stated Ocean Fish release. The joint venture, it added, is based on a shared commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.
With day boats from Rye to Newlyn, covering the entire south coast of England, they offer more than 50 UK fish species, responsibly sourced, low-carbon, reliable, and chef-focused. In addition, Chapman's refrigerated facility near London enables a low food footprint, efficient delivery, and a faster, more responsive UK seafood supply chain.
Now, the increased capacity, financial backing, and group-wide support provided by this partnership will enable Chapman's of Sevenoaks to expand in the hospitality sector going forward.
So, while Chapman's continues to offer premium service, expert fish preparation, and the attention to detail that defines its success, Ocean Fish brings the scale and sourcing strength of a nationwide operation, ensuring reliable supply and greater reach.
"For chefs and buyers, this creates a compelling offer: UK premium seafood responsibly sourced, expertly prepared, and above all, delivered with care," said the statement issued by Ocean Fish Group.
An idea that OFG CEO Leigh Genge further elaborated on in a comment posted on his LinkedIn profile. "Having worked on this project for a number of months, I am now very excited about the supply chain opportunities that our new OFG company provides. With our existing fishing fleet and processing/procurement expertise this really can become a dynamic seafood consolidation," he wrote.
"At a time of impending inflationary challenge and headwind for the hospitality sector, Chapman's should become the supply destination of choice to improve quality/freshness and reduce inbound cost of goods. We are all looking forward to the journey," the Ocean Fish Group CEO added.
As mentioned above, the company claimed that this is more than a partnership, a bold step forward for the future of British seafood, also stating that at the heart of this venture is their investment in people.
"From expert filleters to operational teams, we remain committed to preserving and building vital skills across coastal communities. Above all, we believe in being large enough to deliver, yet small enough to care and that ethos continues to guide us as we grow together," the statement concluded.
