This privacy policy sets out how We Are Aquaculture uses and protects any information that you provide when you use this website. We Are Aquaculture takes privacy and security seriously. We do not sell or share names, email addresses, or any other personal information with third parties. We Are Aquaculture is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

We Are Aquaculture may change this policy occasionally by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy was most recently updated on May 25, 2018 to reflect changes put into place by Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Talent Cluster, including all The Talent Cluster subsidiary companies together, (which includes Din Bemannings Partner, AquacultureTalent, We Are Aquaculture, AgricultureTalent, referred to here as ‘The Talent Cluster’ is a leading global recruitment consultancy and outsourcing company working on an annual basis with thousands of candidates and clients worldwide.

Someone our websites offers you a platform to create a profile and upload your CV and other personal data to improve your user experience, and to use functions such as job alerts, CV registration and job applications, while other news. You are responsible for the accuracy of the personal data inputted. If you use functions on the website which access data from external sources, such as LinkedIn, please be aware that the website will access your personal data from these sources.

Our reputation as a recruiter is reliant on the trust of people we work with, and consequently the effective and professional use of the information you provide us is paramount.

Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting and safeguarding your data privacy rights.

We intend to offer our website users a safe online experience, without any negative impact on their privacy. For this purpose, we are using our best efforts to ensure that the information uploaded by you to our database is used exclusively for the purposes contemplated by you.

What is the business of The Talent Cluster?

The core of what we do is two-sided.

Firstly, it is to provide services to help candidates develop their careers. We do this through assessing and matching people with potential job opportunities, as well as providing wider services to help them in their careers, such as invitations to networking events and opportunities to take part in research.

Secondly, we work with clients to provide recruitment, consultancy, outsourcing and staffing services to help them solve recruitment and manpower and other related challenges.

2. Data Collected
What information do we collect?

For all newsletter subscribers (i.e. people who have subscribed to receive one or more of our newsletters), we collect the following personal details:

  • name and email address (required)
  • optionally, details such as job title, industry, organization and phone number

For all visitors to our website and subscribers, we collect:

  • Anonymized and non-personal information via Google Analytics and HubSpot, such as country, browser type, device and domain
What do we use your information for?

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping
  • To improve our website, products and services
  • To process transactions
  • Provide support when requested, for instance with a subscription
How do we protect your information?

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. These security measures include, but are not limited to: password protected directories and databases to safeguard your information and SSL (Secure Sockets Layered) technology to ensure that your information is fully encrypted and sent across the internet securely.

How do we share your personal information and who do we share it with?

Your personal data provided to us is processed by We Are Aquaculture part of The Talent Cluster.

We will ensure that:

access to your personal data is restricted to staff who are required to process such data as part of their job;
only necessary information is released to the relevant employees;
we seek your consent before sharing your details with any prospective employer or user of your services.

‍Referees: unless you specify otherwise, we may share your information with any of our group companies and client(s) in relation to whose vacancy your reference was given.

We will disclose information under the following circumstances:

‍Service and Site usage information: When we share anonymous information generated by our Services with our clients.

‍Third-party service providers: When we share information with third-party service companies for them to facilitate and support us in the provision of the Services.

This includes:

IT support service providers; vetting and screening services; and software providers;

These organisations are appointed by The Talent Cluster as data processors and authorised to use your personal information only as necessary to provide the relevant services to us. These organisations are required to process such information based on our instructions and in accordance with this privacy notice. They do not have any independent right to share this information.

Group companies: We provide your personal information to our subsidiaries or affiliated companies for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf to provide the Site and the Services. These parties are required to process such information based on our instructions and in accordance with this privacy notice. They do not have any independent right to share this information.

Compliance with laws and legal proceedings: When we respond to court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. When we believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent or take actions against illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

Merger or acquisition: When we need to transfer information about you if we are acquired by or merged with another company. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified by email and/or a prominent notice on our Site of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.

Recruitment, staffing and resourcing services: When we are using your personal information in the context of our recruitment and resourcing services, then we may share your personal information with clients where we believe that you may be appropriate for a particular role or vacancy with that client.

International transfers

We want to make sure that your data is stored and transferred in a way which is secure. We will only transfer data outside of the EU, European Economic Area, USA and other regions where we operate where the recipient is compliant with the data protection legislation and the means of transfer provides appropriate safeguards.

These will include EU approved standard contractual clauses according to Article 46(2)(c) GDPR, or where the country concerned has been found adequate by European Commission (as applicable) in respect to the levels of data protection, according to Article 45 GDPR.

Please note that where a derogation to the above applies under Article 49 GDPR, you will be informed of this prior to the transfer taking place and will have the opportunity to object to that transfer.

We may send your information between The Talent Cluster entities which may exist outside of Europe, to overseas clients or to clients within your country who may in turn transfer your data internationally. Appropriate safeguards and legal requirements will always be in place to govern the secure processing of your personal data.

The data may also be stored on cloud-based storage for parts of our overall business process. Please be aware that countries which are outside the European Economic Area may not offer the same level of legal protection for your personal information as under EU, although any collection, storage and use.

If you are not a registered client for our site, there is no personal information we can retain or view regarding yourself. If you are a client with a registered account, your personal information can be accessed by:

  • Our supporters when they (in order to provide support) need to get the information about the client accounts and access.
6. Third Party Access to Your Data

We  Are Aquaculture and The Talent Cluster does not share your data with any third party. We adhere to a strict policy of never selling, distributing or leasing your personal information to third parties, unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to us at info@undercurrentnews.com.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

7. How Long We Retain Your Data For

How long we retain certain data depends on what we are using it for, whether that is to provide services to you, for our own legitimate interests (described above) or so that we can comply with the law. If you cease to be a customer or user, we will archive your data no later than 16 weeks after you stop using the website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For visitors who subscribed on our website, we store all account information indefinitely, for record keeping purposes. All subscribers can request to be deleted or unsubscribe.

Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

For anyone company who has made a purchase for our services, we will retain a record of the transaction history, invoice(s) and billing details indefinitely for accounting and tax auditing purposes.

8. Security Measures
We use the SSL/HTTPS protocol throughout our site. This encrypts our user communications with the servers so that personally identifiable information is not captured/hijacked by third parties without authorization. In case of a data breach, system administrators will immediately take all needed steps to ensure system integrity, will contact affected users and will attempt to reset passwords if needed.
9. Your Data Rights
General Rights

If you have subscribed on this website or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we retain, including any additional data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any of the personal data we have stored. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. In short, we cannot erase data that is vital to you being an active customer (i.e. basic account information like an email address).
If you wish that all of your data is erased, we will no longer be able to offer any support or other product-related services to you.

Where we have previously engaged with you (for example where you have submitted an application or CV to us, you subscribed to our newsletter, or contact us for our services) or where you have posted your details on a job board, we may have obtained your email address and retained it according to our legitimate business interests as explained above.

Having obtained your email address during an aforementioned recent course of business, we may periodically send you related information that we think you will find interesting or to ask for your expertise in completing a survey.

We may also send you newsletters, relevant information to market our full range of services, or send you details of networking and client events and information about the industry sectors we think may be of interest to you.

If you do not wish to receive these communications you can unsubscribe by clicking on the relevant link on marketing emails, or contact data@weareaquaculture.com requesting to be opted-out of receiving marketing communications.

Not withstanding the above, your rights as a data subject under the GDPR provide that you can ask for all your personal data to be removed (as explained above) at any time.

11. Release of Your Data for Legal Purposes

At times it may become necessary or desirable to We Are Aquaculture, for legal purposes, to release your information in response to a request from a government agency or a private litigant. You agree that we may disclose your information to a third party where we believe, in good faith, that it is desirable to do so for the purposes of a civil action, criminal investigation, or other legal matter. In the event that we receive a subpoena affecting your privacy, we may elect to notify you to give you an opportunity to file a motion to quash the subpoena, or we may attempt to quash it ourselves, but we are not obligated to do either. We may also proactively report you, and release your information to, third parties where we believe that it is prudent to do so for legal reasons, such as our belief that you have engaged in fraudulent activities. You release us from any damages that may arise from or relate to the release of your information to a request from law enforcement agencies or private litigants.

Any passing on of personal data for legal purposes will only be done in compliance with laws of the country you reside in.
