The Estrella del Sur Fishermen's Union of Calbuco became the first entity in Chile to win a bid for the maintenance and control of closed (non-operational) centers of a salmon farming company.

The collaboration between Salmones Camanchaca and the Fishermen's Union will last for two years, during which the union members will offer their knowledge and services in the centers of Los Lagos and Aysén regions, specifically in the areas of Chiloé, Comau, Estuario, and Lago Llanquihue.

Additionally, they will provide support in preventive training, safety, and corporate technological issues to ensure the success of their functions.

In this regard, the Administration and Finance Manager of Salmones Camanchaca, Antonio Troncoso, stated: "We are very pleased to finalize this agreement as it exemplifies how transparent, trust-based territorial articulation enables the creation of new alliances that promote the development and progress of the localities where we operate in harmony with our neighbors, among different actors."

On the other hand, Marcelo Soto, president of the Union, highlighted: "This marks a milestone for the connection between salmon farming and artisanal fishing. We take on this challenge with great responsibility as it is an opportunity for our people to work directly with the company, advancing in a series of services of interest to the industry."

Finally, Felipe Díaz, Communication Director at SalmonChile, assured that this could be a first step towards changing the way companies and unions interact.
