Fish International trade fair opens its doors on Sunday

Germany's premier trade fair for the fish and seafood industry is set to take place from February 25 to 27, 2024 in Bremen.

The 19th edition of Fish International, Germany's premier trade fair for the fish and seafood industry, is set to take place from February 25 to 27, 2024 in Bremen. This year's event promises to be a melting pot of innovation, sustainability, and industry expertise, drawing around 320 exhibitors from 30 different countries.

Highlights for this year: focus on AI, sustainability and work culture

This year's program includes a diverse range of topics, with a particular focus on AI and energy efficiency, sustainable fishing, and people & culture management.

Sören Eilenberger, Managing Director of Flexality GmbH, will kick off the event on Sunday with a discussion on how artificial intelligence can revolutionize energy efficiency in the seafood industry, using frozen fish as a novel storage solution to cut costs and CO₂ emissions.

On Monday, the spotlight shifts to sustainable fishing, a critical issue for the global food supply chain. Götz Ahrens of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) will lead a panel of experts to delve into what sustainable fishing entails and the roles various stakeholders play in achieving it.

For the first time in its 36-year history, Fish International will introduce a session on human resources , in collaboration with the expo GASTRO IVENT which is being held in the same venue, and cooperation partner Zukunft Personal, Europe's largest trade fair for personnel management.

On Tuesday 27, Dr. Thomas Jung, international HR manager at Vitakraft will share insights on the transformation of work culture at traditional medium-sized companies through modern processes, flat hierarchies, and skilled personnel management, in the session "New Work: the opposite of Old Work?".

Founded in 1988, Fish International at MESSE BREMEN is the only German trade fair for fish and seafood. It takes place every two years together with the gastronomy trade fair GASTRO IVENT and attracts around 11,000 trade visitors from the fish industry, fish wholesalers, food retailers, and the catering trade to the Hanseatic city of Bremen, in north-western Germany.

Over 300 exhibitors from all over the world are on-site at Fish International alone, providing a framework for information, dialogue, and networking. Most foreign visitors to the event come from the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Austria and Switzerland.
