RASTECH 2024, an international conference and trade fair serving owners and operators of Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology, starts today till the 6th of June in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

The international conference and trade fair will have over 70 exhibitors showcasing RAS-specific feeds and equipment and gather RAS fish farmers/producers, fish hatchery professionals, engineers, contractors, consultants, researchers, and investors in RAS.

According to the organizers, government agencies are taking advantage of this year's conference to send their fish hatchery technicians and learn about the latest industry technologies from relevant aquaculture companies such as Salmon Evolution, Proximar Seafood, Freshwater Institute, and Benchmark Genetics.

"It’s pleasing to see so many repeat exhibitors supporting our trade show as well as some new industry suppliers coming to exhibit for the first time," associate publisher RAStech Jeremy Thain noted.

"In particular, it feels like RASTECH is fast becoming the entry point for companies from the wastewater treatment sector to come and showcase their applicable technologies to the land-based aquaculture industry," he specified.

Today, Ohad Maiman and Thue Holm of AquaFounders Capital will give a keynote titled 'A vision for RAS’s future,' and Carlo Lazado and Trine Ytrestøyl, scientists from Nofima, will lead the research session.

Additionally, during the first day, attendees can participate in breakout sessions about de-risking through design, smolt: drivers of RAS, building a team, health and disease management, and research from SAS2 and the Freshwater Institute.

On the second day, James Tuller from Pure Salmon Technology will give a keynote on 'Commissioning to success,' and there will be an Investors' Forum led by aquaculture consultant Justin Henry and Fonte Capital director Jamie Stein, among others.

Regarding the program, Anne Beswick, group publisher of RAStech, indicated: "The RASTECH Conference and Trade Fair bring together the best and brightest in the industry. Experts, suppliers, and educators can come together to collaborate, network, and learn about the latest RAS products and technology each year.  It’s always an exciting two days filled with incredible information and industry professionals."
