Just a few hours ago The Northwest Aquaculture Alliance (NWAA) announced that Claudio R. Cerda S. has joined its 14-person Board of Directors. At present, Cerda is the General Manager of Troutlodge, located in Bonney Lake (Washington), a company world leader in the production of eyed trout eggs.

Cerda, a Chilean national, is a graduate of Aquaculture Engineering from the Universidad de Los Lagos in Osorno, Chile. He has an impressive career in the aquaculture industry, with experience managing operations focused on salmon, trout, and shrimp in different countries.

For Cerda, "aquaculture is the future" and therefore facing and overcoming the challenges of aquaculture is his main objective, especially in the Pacific Northwest region. He also wants to expand NWAA's vision; a model in which "all forms of aquaculture are embraced and accepted as an environmentally sustainable way" to produce the food the world needs.

The NWAA President and CEO of Jamestown Seafood, Jim Parsons, described Cerda as "a visionary leader who will bring a valuable international perspective to our leadership team." Moreover, Parsons added that Cerda, "has the vision and commitment to develop the US aquaculture industry as it has developed in major producing countries where he has worked in various aquaculture sectors."
