Family-owned Norwegian salmon farmer Kvarøy Fiskeoppdrett has announced a "strategic move" in appointing industry veteran Rune Mikalsen as the new CEO of its US sales subsidiary, Kvarøy Arctic.
The company reshuffle sees Mikalsen move from his previous role as CFO to become chief executive of Kvarøy Arctic in the US, as the Norwegian company seeks to expand its presence in the American market.
Highlighting Mikalsen's "leadership skills and strategic vision", the company announced his new responsibilites will include overseeing the company's operations, sales and marketing strategies, and strengthening key relationships with customers, distributors, and retailers.

"I look forward to working closely with the talented team at Kvarøy Arctic to bring the exceptional taste and quality of Norwegian salmon to even more American consumers," Mikalsen added.
Kvarøy Fiskeoppdrett chief Alf-Gøran Knutsen said Mikalsen's track record in the seafood industry and "passion for sustainable practices" made him the" ideal leader to drive the company's growth and strengthen its position in the American market".
"We are confident that under Rune's guidance, Kvarøy Arctic will continue to excel," said Knutsen.
The appointment has prompted a reshuffle within the ranks of Kvarøy's executive team. Replacing Mikalsen as CFO is former long-term AquaChile CFO Freddy Olcese, who joined the Norwegian firm as its new Finance VP last year.
Kvarøy Arctic has also announced the appointment of Arnie Dzelkalns as the company's new Midwestern sales manager.
