Norwegian industrial technology group EQVA has announced that two of its companies are joining forces on a major contract for Salmon Evolution’s next development phase at its Indre Harøy hybrid flow-through facility.
The project marks the first large-scale collaboration between Austevoll Rørteknikk AS (ART), which was acquired by EQVA in March 2025, and BKS Industri AS, which is in the process of formally joining the industrial group.
The work is being delivered under the leadership of Artec Aqua, which holds the turnkey contract for process engineering for Salmon Evolution's site expansion. The joint effort will focus on installing advanced piping systems and assembling process equipment supplied by Artec Aqua.
The contract, valued at around NOK 100 million, spans roughly 18 months and will involve contributions from both companies at every stage, from initial calculations and prefabrication to on-site installation and final delivery, EQVA indicated in a press announcement.
“This project shows what we can achieve when we combine our experiences and professional environments. We know each other well, and now we finally have the opportunity to work together operationally, for the best interest of the customer,” said Frode Mikal Vågen, Managing Director at ART.
“This project represents a breakthrough for EQVA in complex deliveries to land-based aquaculture. It is a good example of how we in the EQVA group can create added value through collaboration across companies," said Tore Thorkildsen, Sales Manager at EQVA.
"ART and BKS have complementary expertise, and together we deliver a strong and effective total package to the customer. We currently have major deliveries within the aquaculture industry, including delousing facilities, and we are proud of our breakthrough in land-based facilities,” Thorkildsen added.
During the implementation phase, prefabrication will be carried out simultaneously at both ART and BKS’s facilities, with close coordination during the on-site installation process.
“We have had good and constructive cooperation with both ART and BKS Industri throughout the entire process, from the tender phase to the contract. They have shown strong professional competence and flexibility, and we look forward to effective and good cooperation further in the project,” said Håvard Breen, purchasing manager at Artec Aqua.
In January, Artec Aqua confirmed that Norwegian aquaculture technology company Nordkontakt will provide automation solutions for Salmon Evolution's Phase 2 expansion, and in October 2024 it was confirmed that Cflow will deliver fish handling technology for the project.
Once the second phase expansion is completed, Salmon Evolution expects to increase production capacity from its current 7,900 tonnes to 18,000 tonnes annually, with the final phase expansion aiming to reach 36,000 tonnes by 2026.
