Coinciding with the presentation of its Q3 2025 operational update, China's first commercial-scale RAS Atlantic salmon farm, Nordic Aqua Partners (NOAP), announced that on Friday, October 10, the transfer of fish to the first RAS grow-out unit in the Phase 2 facility had been successfully completed.
"The team is very proud of the new stunning facility of Stage 2, that now is receiving fish," the company said in a statement sent to the stock exchange and also posted on its LinkedIn page.
This milestone marked the completion of the first of four Phase 2 RAS grow-out units, with the remaining expected to receive fish in the coming months. Likewise, the first harvest from Phase 2 fish, whose eggs were laid in the third quarter of 2024, is expected to take place in September 2026.
The announcement that Nordic Aqua Partners' Phase 2 facility is receiving fish came along with its operational update for Q3 2025. In it, the land-based salmon farming company stated that the commercial harvest was 630 tons of head-on gutted (HOG) fish, reaching an average harvest weight of 3.1 kg (HOG), equivalent to 3.8 kg live weight (LW), with a superior quality rate of 98%
As reported by WeAreAquaculture, following the resumption of commercial sales in February after resolving an issue related to geosmin and revising its production strategy targeting larger fish in May, Nordic Aqua said in its Q2 2025 results presentation that it had validated its market position, providing the Chinese market with premium quality Atlantic Salmon.
Thus, in line with this new strategy of producing larger salmon, in order to optimize the number of fish in the facility, a large number of small fish were harvested during the third quarter, to allow other fish to grow larger.
So far this year, the total cumulative harvest at the end of Q3 2025 was 1,673 tons (HOG), of which the commercial harvest accounted for 1,585 tons (HOG), reaching an average harvest weight of 4.1 kg (HOG), equivalent to 4.9 kg (LW), with a superior quality rate, in this case, of 99%.
Regarding farming, production during the third quarter of 2025 was 969 tons, bringing total biomass to 2,835 tons. Cumulative production YTD 2025 was 2,631 tons. "Overall biological performance remains strong with good fish health, no maturation and high survival rates," the company stated.
Nordic Aqua Partners announced that the full Q3 2025 report on the results of its land-based salmon farm on Gaotang Island, Ningbo, China, will be published on November 11, 2025.
