Cflow, a Norwegian supplier of fish handling and aquaculture technology, has established a local branch in Iceland.

The company said the move would allow it to work more closely with Icelandic customers and strengthen its position in land-based aquaculture, where Iceland has seen growing investment in recent years.

Iceland is a market we strongly believe in. The country has a progressive aquaculture industry, a high level of technological maturity, and strong players with high expectations for quality and execution. This aligns well with what Cflow stands for,” said Stig Bjørkedal, CEO of Cflow, in a press release.

Cflow said its decision follows its involvement in the Salmon Garden project being developed by Samherji Fiskeldi, part of seafood group Samherji.

“Our collaboration with Samherji Fiskeldi and the delivery to Salmon Garden have been an important gateway into the Icelandic market," said Thomas Håberg, Sales Manager at Cflow, which he said "confirms that our solutions meet the requirements of some of the most experienced and competent players in the industry.”

Cflow said its work in Iceland has also given the company a better understanding of local industry practices and customer requirements, and confirmed the company will be participating in the Icelandic Aquaculture and Ocean Forum later this spring as a conference partner.

“We experience Icelandic industry players as highly competent and very accessible to work with. There is a short distance from decision to action, combined with clear expectations for quality at every stage. Close collaboration and a strong understanding of customer needs are essential to succeed in complex projects, and this is where we see the greatest value in our investment in Iceland,” Håberg said.
