Skretting has launched a new feed formulation concept called AmiNova that enables more precise fish nutrition, causing lower nutrient release to the environment.

AmiNova is based on an "ideal" digestible amino acid profile allowing fish to retain nutrients more efficiently and at the same time maintain performance levels.

Precisely, the new formulation evaluates the total amino acid level that is effectively ingested by the fish and removes the unnecessary excess.

Principal Researcher Shrimp and Warm Water Species Nutrition, Skretting Aquaculture Innovation Ramón Fontanillas explained: "Our trials with salmon and trout have shown a significant reduction in nitrogen discharge into the farm environment."

Previously, Skretting presented other concepts such as MicroBalance, N3, and FLX to reduce its dependence on fish oil and fish meal for feed formulations. Also, the company launched in late April its new diet solution called 'Optiline Catfish' intended for African catfish farmers across Nigeria.

Furthermore, Innovation Director at Skretting Alex Obach recalled: "We have also launched Infinity, a salmon feed completely free of marine raw materials. Once ingredient flexibility was achieved, it was natural to focus on precision nutrition to reduce emissions."

The first AmiNova-formulated feed will be available in the Chilean salmonid market in Q3 2024. More species and countries will be included in 2025.
