The Norwegian company dedicated to the fishing and production of scallops, Ava Ocean, is preparing to raise NOK 150 million (approximately €12.8 million) in new capital with the entry of Wilstar Innovate AS and the Birkeland family as new shareholders.

This capital increase has also been made possible thanks to the participation of existing shareholders, led by Norselab, Hofseth International, and shipbuilding and floating structures constructor CINUS AS.

Ava Ocean will allocate these funds to the next phase of development of its scallop fishery in the Barents Sea and to future international growth. Its patented and award-winning harvesting technology allows scallops to be collected from the seabed more gently and efficiently.

The historic Arctic scallop fishery in the Barents Sea had been paused for more than 30 years due to the ban on traditional dredging. Thanks to Ava Ocean's services, its reopening was made possible. Now, the Norwegian company is finishing the refit of its new vessel, the Ava Pearl, in order to return to active fishing in spring 2026.

"These are investors with a deep understanding of the ocean, challenging fisheries, and with long-term investment horizons. For us, this is as much about expertise and collaboration as it is about capital," explained Stian Tennfjord, Chair of the Board of Ava Ocean.

Also, Jean Guillaume Marquaire at Wilstar Innovate said, "Ava Ocean combines new technology with respect for nature and marine resources. This fits well with our ambition to invest in solutions that create long-term value at sea."
