Nordic Aquafarms to diversify its European and US operations to yellowtail and farming salmon

Nordic Aquafarms will diversify its operations. So, the European side will focus on raising yellowtail kingfish, while the US business will continue dealing with farming salmon. The investment for yellowtail production reaches €15.8 million (NOK 150/$17.2 million).

The two land-based salmon facilities in the United States will continue under the original company name: Nordic Aquafarms Group. On the other side, the newly established company Nordic Aquafarms Europe agglutinates Norway and Denmark operations.

Besides, the company also produces yellowtail at the facility in Hanstholm in Denmark. Furthermore, Nordic Aquafarms Europe expects to produce around 3,000 metric tons of yellowtail kingfish per year. This will be a consequence of the expansion and the conversion of the facility in Fredrikstad, Norway's first large land-based salmon facility.
